omg. i cannot believe the insanity of last week. i'm still recovering…
sunday was easter and i didn't take any pictures because i'm an
asshole. we went to vonny + mario's to eat and have an easter egg
hunt. martin had been training margot all week as last year she
only got the one egg and was happy with that. this, apparently, was
not acceptable to my dear husband.
i do have pictures of special eggs martin's grandmother's caretaker
MADE for margot. she takes care of her everyday for a few hours and
they are so in love with each other.
also there was my UCLA friend who you see here often, karen and oooju.
my first time in westminster did not disappoint!
tuesday we visited another UC Riverside friend and former
roommate johanna, her husband brad (another UCR friend), and
their kids, annika and nico. hazel and lucas joined in the fun too as
brad and hazel have an old scrabble rivalry.
we went to the long beach aquarium. margot loves it there and if it
was closer, we might have considered getting an annual pass.
being with brad and johanna makes me feel like a fucking midget.
annika loved margot so much that she decided she wants a baby sister.
her cousin's aj, lea, kaitlyn and emma came along too.
that night we hung out with regulars bill and jessica as well as
comic nerds derek kirk kim and jason shiga.
jessica decided to finally touch baby uggo. it's no secret
that margot is still her favorite. iggy will forever have issues
with this. thanks jessica!
lucas loves iggy so much that he always says he wants to take
him home.
friday we were supposed to have a playdate with grace and
christian, but we were so exhausted from the week that we stayed
home and took long naps instead.
saturday was john's opening at GR2. first we ran into mason
at curry house.
then to the show…

a while back, we went to the noah's ark exhibit at the skirball center
with hazel, lucas, heseon, dylan and some of lucas' other playmates.
it was a really cool place, full of animals made out of found objects,
and activities. all margot wanted to do was suck her thumb.
there's one room where it's basically like a jungle gym. you first have to
climb up this crazy rope ladder to the second floor and then crawl through
holes that are way too small for adults.
i'd highly suggest any parent with a child that is at least crawling to go
check it out!! fun for adults and children (but mostly children).
oktoberfest with hazel, robert, lucas, helen (hazel's sister) and
michael (hazel's brother-not pictured)
i've also uploaded some videos but won't post them.
hazel risked the wrath of robert and bought margot lucas' favorite book
of all time. she must really love margot.
i'm SO tired from this weekend!
saturday was lunch at delicieuse with gregory, emily, heseon,
john, dylan, hazel and lucas. phew.
had the most delicious goat cheese sandwich and ice cream, and
margot had her first taste of a non-pureed food, broccoli.
*photos courtesy of gregory
hung out at dylan's for a while.
then it was off to manhattan beach where margot felt sand and
salt water for the first time. not so into it.
don't worry, she has plenty of sunblock on and it's the 4 o'clock sun. plus
she wasn't in the sun for long.
more pics here and here.
on sunday was kiki's birthday party
hazel+robert bought a place in rolling hills estates (oh-la-la). we went
to go visit and since they have a kid, thought we'd bring ours as well.
then the kims (hazel's parents) came over to bring us prosciutto sandwiches from paris
in las vegas and to finally meet margot. she has a little bit of stranger anxiety
these days but she finally warmed up.
hazel, karen and i got together with the kids and had a
playdate. i've known hazel since the third grade when she
was the most popular girl in school and i was the biggest
nerd. she'd write me notes to tell me to stop hanging out
with her since i was bringing her popularity down.
i met karen at ucla in the mid 1990s when i accosted her
on the bus because she reminded me of the ally sheedy
character in breakfast club and i wanted to be her friend.
fast forward 10 years later and we're still friends and now
we all have kids within 13 months of each other.
hazel was there to help me give birth to margot and took/
takes my 5 phone calls a day to answer any and all questions
about eveything.
now she's offered to come help martin his first week alone
with margot. she's even willing to miss lucas' beloved music
class! also, she said if margot still won't take the bottle,
she'd feed from her tap! if that's not love i don't know what is.
margot and i are very lucky to have her in our life.
i've asked hazel to be there during labor and delivery, which i believe is
a great relief to martin. he's been bugging me about it for a long time, but
with lucas and all, i thought it would be just too difficult. but after taking
these classes it became apparent to me that i would indeed benefit from
having another female that i'm comfortable with be with me. i was considering
a doula, but asked hazel on the off chance that she'd be interested. and
she is! yay.
i thought just me and martin could handle it, but i worry about martin getting
tired and needing a break and i worry that i'll just be mean to him because
he'll have no idea what to do to help me. and it's been shown that women who
labor with their partners and another female are much happier with their
experience. so there you go…
