Summer Recap

i know that i’m constantly apologizing for long overdue posts, but i’m
not going to this time. just suck it up people, i gots a toddler and a baby!
mama don’t have much time anymore to shower and shave much less
post. martin is horrified by the state of my underarms.

bros and their little h…girls

the summer started off the with the bros going to griffith park with their
girls hannah and namiye.

remember this post of hannah tackling margot? well, payback is
a bitch!

freys and robinsons

we went with the robinsons to meet the newest frey, elias, and their
new house in woodland hills. we were served champagne and celebrated
martin’s birthday. judy and sebastian made martin a special raspberry
cake which of course i didn’t take a picture of.

everyone had fun on their hammock.

swimming

this summer was kind of weird and it never got really hot for an
extended period of time. but we tried and went to mario and
vonny’s house to go swimming.

iggy tried it out. not sure how he liked it. he’s a hard read sometimes.

li!

laura and i went to my favorite place, the pump station! iggy and i
got to meet li and catch up with laura.

first food

iggy had his first bite of solid food, avocado.

he wasn’t too into it and for a while if he saw any solid food coming
towards him, he’d clamp his mouth shut. we started giving it to him cold
and now he dives head first for a bite to eat.

banta birthdays

we always celebrate the end of summer with the a birthday party with
the bantas.

of course i don’t have picture of kiki, but i do have on of the other birthday
girl, mina and happy.

christian decided to do this amazing dance

hope everyone had a happy 4th! ours was mellow and crazy
at the same time, if that makes any sense.

saturday we went to dim sum and scoops with my old college
friend, dani, and her husband mark and kids lucas and sadie.

cina gave margot her first pedicure. the color?
"a good mandarin is hard to find"

margot has since been OBSESSED with her toenails. she shows them
to all her toys. and when she took a nap, her feet were in the air so she
could look at them.

that night, it took about 45 minutes to convince her that a bath would not
wash off the polish.

this frightens me for the future…

500 days of summer

June started out gloomy, and stayed that way for most of the month.
When it rained, we got in some umbrella practice. Do you like my fobby pajamas?

July was all about zoo trips with my baby pals. Here's round 1 with Myles and Hannah.

Round 2 with Lucia and Eloise. Spent barely 2 hours there, and we're on the verge of passing out! Guess we're not as young as we used to be.

Took one of our semi-regular trips to Nickelodeon to hang out with my older friends.
They have jobs and don't need to wear diapers. Actually, I think the bald one still needs them.

I also went on a bunch of playdates with my valley friend, Hannah.

Like, omigod…gag me with a spoon!

In July, LA became a sweltering desert, so we dressed accordingly:

"The Staff of Ra shall be six kadams high."

After defeating the Nazis and recovering the Ark of the Covenant, we celebrated by going swimming:

hooray, no more nazis!

…then caught up on our summer reading:

Then we wrapped up July with a visit to Travel Town to check out the trains:

August is upon us, and we've been getting back to nature.
Went hiking with Christian at Griffith Park. It took us 45 minutes to walk about 40 feet. It didn't help that we picked up every stick and pebble along the way.

Went to the beach at Palos Verdes.
Gregory showed me how to fly a kite a la Charlie Brown:

…and Emily picked out hermit crabs from the tidepools for me, which I promptly returned to their habitat.

Pal Dylan and his mom, Heseon, beckoned me further out into the water, but I refused. I'm a toddler. That's what we're good at.

And lastly, papa keeps mumbling something about a thing called the "economy" going into some place called the "shitter". I don't know what he's talking about, but he said we might all be living in cardboard boxes under the freeway soon. Sounded fun to me, so I thought I'd get a head start:

Oh yeah, before I forget, papa and mama also keep telling me that I'm going to be a "big sister". I have no idea what they're talking about. They're turning into crazy people. All I know is that mama is constantly tired and eating a lot of Subway sandwiches. And they keep shoving this picture in my face:

And papa's a lot grouchier than normal, I wonder if this has anything to do with it?….

all work and no playdates make margot a dull girl

have a pocket full of posies because their balance still isn't so good.

she likes to taunt her with it. i done and taught her good!

in the paul frank shirt) leopold, eloise, ulysses, bonnie sue and sophia.
this picture wasn't taken on saturday, but it's the best one with all the
babies (not including margot as we were in encinitas)

monday: playdate with lucas and duff. went swimming and ate
bacon wrapped hot dogs (the adults that is, not the kids).

i knew i was officially a mom when i got a mom sun hat. now
all i need are mom jeans and i'm set. can't wait!

keep on swimmin’

this is margot's first time in the pool. as you can see, i'm
just a tiny (oh so tiny) bit paranoid about sun exposure.

this is at dylan's grandparents' house and went swimming
and ate and talked about big lactation boobs and how grown
men turn into kids again at their parents' house.

it was dylan's first time in the pool too.

we were only in the water for 5-10 minutes as margot was sucking
her thumb like crazy, trying to soothe herself from this weird sensation
called "swimming".
